What Is Entertaiment?
The clown at a birthday party, the Broadway show, your friends fighting over the last potato chip: all of these are forms of Entertainment. From the Old French entretenir, meaning to support or hold together, the word came to mean anything that gives pleasure, diversion, or amusement—and especially a performance of some kind. It is also associated with hospitality, as in entertaining guests or keeping them happy.
