Relationships – What Type of Relationship is Right For You?
While our need for human connection seems to be innate, our ability to form healthy relationships is learned. Research suggests that healthy relationships start during infancy, when we learn to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. Despite this, relationships can be difficult to sustain if one or both partners are emotionally unstable.
Relationships may be casual, committed, or romantic. A committed relationship is one in which the partners have publicly expressed their intentions to stay together and form a legally binding union. A casual relationship, on the other hand, usually involves no expectation of permanence. People in this type of relationship may still consider each other their friends, but may not be able to commit themselves to long-term intimacy.
There are many different types of relationships, and defining which one is the right one for you depends on how you define the term. For example, a relationship could be a sexual relationship, a friendship, a business partnership, or a family relationship. Whatever the type of relationship, a person’s feelings and intentions towards others are important.
Strong relationships allow people to express their opinions and feelings without fear of retaliation. In addition, they allow people to disagree without being degraded or humiliated.
